Meet Concorida Hall Bar & Bowling Alley

This is the next in a series of articles highlighting a Staunton Chamber of Commerce business. The Staunton Chamber of Commerce consists of a number of businesses, most of them local, who work to make Staunton succeed as a community. These are dedicated businesses and individuals who support the local organizations in many ways and provide a number of entertaining events throughout the year. It's important to shop locally, but it's even more important to shop at Chamber of Commerce businesses. Look for the Chamber of Commerce emblem when shopping.

Concordia Hall and Bowling Alley is a member of the Staunton Chamber of Commerce. It is a Non for Profit organization where members are expected to volunteer, promote and participate in the charitable events the club organizes. The club has 145 members of which 34 are honorary members. The Club is designed to generously give back to the community.

Concordia Hall has made numerous upgrades and improvements to its building and equipment, which also makes the hall more functional and appeasing for members, guests and visitors. It is important building the community cannot afford to be without. A couple of weeks ago it was packed for an Adopt A Pet fundraiser. The Sports Boosters have scheduled a large fundraiser for December. You do not need to be a member to participate in what the club has to offer. They have bowling and bocce ball leagues. Both of these games are also open to the public and lanes can be reserved to guarantee your time is available.

The club was organized in 1896 and certified by the State of Illinois, on April 24, 1900 with the official name of "The Concordia Singing Society". The club has transformed itself over the years. It is one of the few non for profits that promotes and provides support from very small or large corporate events. Concordia Hall has given back over 35 thousand dollars the last 3 years to help support the community. The club maintains profits of less than 5 thousand dollars a year with the balance of the profits being donated to local community organizations. Many of the fundraisers are tied to fun games or events for the participants that raises money for sponsorships or specific items. Some of these are diaper drives, food drives, trunk or treat, breast cancer awareness and support for the Staunton schools and teachers. A popular summer family event was the Watermelon Festival, which featured a large inflatable slide. They have a weekly Queen of Hearts drawing and 5 gambling machines. There are upcoming events to raise money to support the Kids Christmas gift giveaway, the largest giveaway of the year. Mark your calendars for the Snack with Santa and toy giveaway that takes place on December 21st.

Concordia Hall is a member owned club with a volunteer Board of Directors. The current management team consists of President Tom Spears, Vice President Donna Spears, Treasurer Terry Tipler, & Director Craig Neuhaus. The club also has a number of committees that are elected positions such as bowling, bar, & social. The membership is currently open and available. Applications can be picked up at the club or on the website.
